Marzipan made of almonds and powdered sugar is one of the oldest sweets that have been made in Estonia since the Middle Ages. The original homeland of marzipan is probably Persia (present-day Iran), where the treat was first mentioned in written sources as early as the 9th century. Today, good and high-quality marzipan is still a highly valued sweet and it is precisely this kind of marzipan, the best and highest quality, that Kalev produces today.
